Her fame was based on her role as a character in Rectify (a comedy) as well as Timeless (a sci-fi). Gulf Breeze Florida native made her acting debut with the show All My Children. In the series Hawthorne the actress was widely praised for playing the role of Dr. Erin Jameson. In the film Beautiful Now, she was nominated for the Madrid International Film Festival Award. In the TV show Timeless in which she portrayed her role as Lucy Preston, a history professor. Spencer has received positive reviews from critics for her role in the sci-fi program Timeless. Spencer received nominations for an award called the Teen Choice Award.

Dolly Rebecca Parton was conceived in Pittman Center on January 19, 1946. She was born in Sevierville to Avie Lee Parton (a housewife) and Robert Lee Parton (a tobacco farmer).
