Beyoncé Giselle Knowles
Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born on
September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. Tina Knowles, her mom, designs the
glittering costumes, as does Mathew Knowles, Destiny's Child's manager. Solange
her older sister (4 years apart) has released her first album. She dances along
with her sister at DC-3 concerts. Beyonce is of Louisiana Creole &
African descent. Whitney Houston found her and her group. One of her top songs
is "Lovefool" by The Cardigans. Her most coveted piece of clothing is
a pair metal work boots. She is the creator and producer of many of the group’s
hits, including "Jumpin Jumpin", “Bootylicious", “Nasty Girls”,
"Independent Women", and "Happy Face". The lead singer of
the singing group Destiny's Child. As her opening act, she was on tour together
with Christina Aguilera (2000). TLC was the opening performance (1999). Master
P is a cat. She attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts,
Houston, Texas. Solange's big sister and Nixon & Koi Knowles her older
half-sister. One time, she appeared in Star Search (1983). In 2001, she became
the first African-American woman to be awarded the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the
Year Award. She is a great fan of Middle Eastern music, dance and culture. Her
most popular success to date is her song "Crazy in Love" (2003). She
was a participant of numerous awards shows in 2003, including the Radio Music
Awards (MTV Europe Video Music Awards), Billboard Awards and the Billboard
Awards. In November of 2003, Bono of U2 organized a South African AIDS benefit
concert. It was a way to fight the AIDS epidemic in sub Saharan Africa. She
received five Grammy Awards for her song "Dangerously in Love"
(February 8, 2004). Mathew is her father. is African-American. The mother of
her, Tina, is of Louisiana Creole ancestry - mainly African and French and has
ancestors from Louisiana, and, before that, Canada. Beyonce is also 1/32 Irish
and has distant Breton and Spanish, Indonesian and Chinese roots. According to
reports, she has said that in order to overcome her shyness, she created the
stage persona "Sasha".
